Studded winter tyres

Maximum grip on icy and snow-covered roads. Studded winter tyres provide reliable traction and braking in harsh Nordic conditions. Permitted in Estonia from 15 October to 31 March, with extensions depending on weather.

The size is printed on the tyre sidewall. All six parts must match what your car's manufacturer allows; the load and speed indexes may be higher than the minimum, never lower.

Where to find it
On the sidewall of your current tyre, on the sticker in the driver's door frame or fuel-flap, and in the vehicle registration or owner's manual.

XL, Run flat, 3PMSF
XL = reinforced (higher load index). Run flat = can be driven a short distance after a puncture. 3PMSF = the mountain-and-snowflake mark required for winter use.

What the EU tyre label tells you

Shown on every tyre with registered label data (EPREL)

Fuel efficiency A–ERolling resistance. Class A uses the least fuel; the difference between A and E is roughly 0.5 l/100 km.

Wet grip A–EBraking on a wet road. Between A and E the stopping distance from 80 km/h differs by up to 18 metres.

External noise, dB and class A–CPass-by noise measured in decibels; class A is the quietest. Most car tyres are 68–73 dB.

3PMSF — severe snowIce grip (Nordic winter tyres)Labels are public records in the EU EPREL database; each tyre product page links to its own entry.
